how to play - blackjack

Blackjack is the most iconic card game in the casino, and the goal is simple: get a hand value closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Number cards are worth their face value, face cards (Jack, Queen, and King) are worth 10, and Aces are worth 1 or 11, whichever is better for your hand. To start a round, enter your wager and press “Place Bet.” You and the dealer each receive two cards; both of yours are face-up, while the dealer keeps one card face-down until the end of the round. From there, it’s all about deciding when to take another card and when to stay put.

If your first two cards total 21 — an Ace plus a 10-value card — that’s a Blackjack, and it pays out at 3 to 2 instead of the usual even money. Once every hand is played, the dealer reveals their hidden card and draws until reaching at least 17 (our dealer also hits on a soft 17). Beat the dealer’s total without busting and you win double your wager; tie and your bet is returned as a push; go over 21 or fall short of the dealer, and the wager is lost.

Hit — Take another card. You can keep hitting as long as your hand is under 21, but if you go over, you bust and the hand is lost immediately.

Stand — Keep your current total and end your turn. Once you stand, the dealer plays out their hand and the round is settled.

Double Down — Double your wager on your first two cards and receive exactly one more card. A great option when the odds are stacked in your favor, like when your first two cards total 10 or 11.

Split — If your first two cards have the same value, you can split them into two separate hands. A second wager equal to your first is placed on the new hand, and you play each hand out one at a time.

Insurance — When the dealer’s face-up card is an Ace, you can take insurance for half your wager. If the dealer has a Blackjack, insurance pays 2 to 1, covering your lost bet. If the dealer doesn’t, the insurance wager is lost and the round continues as normal.
